How does browser-based image compression work?
This tool uses the HTML5 Canvas API to re-encode your images at a lower quality setting. When you upload a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file, it's decoded entirely in your browser's memory. The Canvas API then re-exports it with the quality level you select. No server, no upload, no storage — your files stay on your device.
